When the eyes of an entire genre of sports fans are on you, divorce could be a little tricky. That's especially true if you're Danica Patrick, one of the few women currently racing in the male-heavy world of NASCAR. So kudos go out to her for the way she and her husband of seven years, physical therapist Paul Hospenthal, announced to the world they were getting divorced—in the quietest, yet loudest way how. They announced it using social media.
"I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage," she wrote in a Facebook post this past November when they made the decision. "This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."
As clean as the announcement are the actual details coming out about the split. The pair agreed to a prenuptial agreement, and both agreed to make it a no-fault divorce. The court documents also note that they "participated in the mediation process in order to arrive at a fair and equitable settlement."
The couple do not have any children together.
