Well, it's been all over the internet and even on prime time news, the Justin Bieber baby Scandal. Even though the young entertainer has categorically denied any involvement with Mariah Yeater, the question of child support is being asked. Just how much cash would Yeater get for child support if the rumors were true and Bieber is the father of her 4 month old baby?
But first, lets look at some of the other legal implications of the law suit against Bieber. A judge has to weigh two things: Bieber's right to privacy versus the child's right to know who the father is, unless the judge thinks Yeater made everything up, the court will likely order a DNA test as the quickest resolution to determining the child's paternity.
Yeater's attorneys claim they have evidence that there was an encounter between the two, if a DNA test proves that Bieber is the father, Yeater will have "hit the jackpot."
If Bieber indeed never met this woman, a DNA test may be the only way to clear his name.
Yeater's attorneys say they have "credible evidence" to prove their case and are seeking a "modest and rightful" settlement.
Bieber is required to file a response to the lawsuit before a Dec. 15 hearing. It's most likely that Bieber's attorneys will quietly agree to a test without the court's involvement to avoid a showdown in court.
Bieber is a very high income earner, but in the case of child support, If a DNA test proves that the allegations are true then Yeater would be entitled to receive monthly support payments until the child turns 18. By law a child may not be entitled to live by the same standard as the father, especially when the father doesn't have custody. Often in celebrity paternity cases more generous settlement amounts are paid "upfront" to avoid lengthy support payments.
No doubt, the alleged baby scandal will take a toll on positive publicity for the entertainer. Having to defend who he is during the middle of an album promotion. Left with little choice but to combat the allegations directly, Justin Bieber has done his best to be direct with his fans and share his side of the story while the facts are being sorted out. He's not the first celebrity to have had to face this type of allegation. These days with DNA testing to establish paternity, it's much easier to get to the truth than it used to be.
