The Project Runway host cites "irreconcilable differences" for the split
It's been weeks in the making, but we still can't believe that international supermodel and TV personality Heidi Klum and singer Seal have split after more than six years of marriage.
After their separation a little more two months ago, talk had been swirling around town that the couple, who have three children together and one from Klum's previous relationship, were working to get their marriage back together. It didn't seem so far-fetched since the couple had always been the picture of happiness—whether it was publically showering each other with lavish praise or playing around at their annual Halloween gala.
It wasn't meant to be, however, as Klum officially filed for the divorce in a Los Angeles courtroom. Their finances were kept private, but it turns out that the couple had come to an agreement as to how to amicably divide their financial assets if they divorced. The main point of contention now will be the children. Klum is asking for "sole physical custody" of the children, with Seal (whose real name is Henry Samuel) getting visitation and joint legal custody of the kids. Interestingly, Klum had taken the Samuel surname for herself for personal reasons—Klum had continued to be her "stage name." In the court documents, she is asking for it to be restored as her real name.
