Dwayne Wade's Ex Siohvaughn Funches-Wade In Legal Limbo

Posted By Demetria Graves || 17-Jul-2012

The star's ex-wife is currently looking for lawyer number 13 after arrest for kidnapping

NBA superstar Dwayne Wade may be living like a king since he and LeBron James led the Miami Heat to the NBA title this year; however, leave it to divorce drama to bring the two-time champ back into the wrong kind of court.

His ex-wife of a year, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, is looking to amend the settlement won by Wade's lawyers when they split. In it, the Heat star got custody of the children and she must go to him in Miami (she lives in Chicago) to see them. However, her challenge has hit numerous snags – 12 to be exact, as in the number of lawyers who have represented her.

The latest, Michael Haber, cited a "lack of communication" with her and said they were "unable to resolve significant issues regarding the representation." The judge presiding the case, Marya Nega, allowed Haber to drop the case, even though Funches-Wade said it would expensive to hire possibly lucky lawyer number 13.

Many believe that Haber dropped the case because of Funches-Wade's attempt last month to rectify the situation with her children, 10-year-old Zaire Blessing Dwayne Wade and 5-year-old Zion Malachi Airamis Wade. According to police, she did not relinquish custody of the children back to Wade for Father's Day – and while he was duking it out with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the NBA title last month.

Her act defying the court order left her in the slammer, arrested for two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest. She was released on a $10,000 bond and is now waiting to hear back from any lawyer worth their salt in Chicago to represent her ongoing struggles.
