Former NFL reciever looks to leave agressive nature on the field
While the NFL has seemingly forgotten about Chad Johnson – the reports are that he hasn't gotten a single call from a team since being cut by the Dolphins in August – his troubles from beating his then-wife Evelyn Lozada are far from gone.
For those unfamiliar, while Johnson (who recently returned to his birth name after going by Chad Ochocino for a while) was attempting to get onto the Miami Dolphins football team, he head-butted his wife of less than two months after she began arguing about condoms she found in his car. He was arrested and, soon after, hit with divorce papers. She was recently granted that divorce, but it turns out that's not the last of his issues with the situation. Apparently not realizing until now that the aggression that serves him so well on the field doesn't translate well into real life, he told Inside The NFL last week that he's looking for a way to chill out. Apparently, he decided to take anger management classes to calm those nerves that always seemed frazzled.
"I'm trying to find out how can I channel my anger when I'm in situations to where I would pop off," he told the show. "How can I diffuse those situations, trigger points?"
'You you know that saying you never know what you have until it's gone,'" he continued, "now I finally know what they mean. I lost two of the things that really meant the most to me. That someone completed my world, completed me, period. But I just hadn't made that transition to where I needed to be the best man that I could, or best husband that I could. I didn't make it all the way, fully."
Reports are that the divorce to Lozada –who stars on VH1's "Basketball Wives" reality show – was uncontested, but that the financials were settled by an undisclosed pre-nuptial agreement. In addition to the anger management classes, however, Johnson is still facing a misdemeanor battery charge. All involved are lucky that this didn't escalate more than it did. If anything else comes up, we'll keep you posted right here.
