Divorce is often a sad road to take, even for the rich and famous. The damage is doubled when there are two stars involved, like when Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria and NBA superstar Tony Parker split in 2011. It was a messy separation that didn't blow up thanks to a prenuptial arrangement.
However, what the divorce didn't cost the actress in financial stakes may have affected her mental state. Talking to Dr. Oz on his eponymous talk show, Longoria described how the post-divorce life took a toll on her mind and body. Even though outside she says she was looking fine, it was on the inside that her divorce was affecting her most.
"That's probably the time I got the most compliments because I was so skinny," Longoria told Dr. Oz. "I was not eating… I was sad. My diet was coffee. So people kept saying, 'You look amazing. Divorce agrees with you,'" she says. "And I was like, 'I don't feel good. I have no energy.'" Part of her issue was that absent of someone diagnosing her mood, she never got a grasp of what was going on until it was too late. Ever the optimist, she just decided to solder on.
"I didn't know I was depressed," Longoria continued. "I mean, I knew it was a sad moment in my life, but I wouldn't categorize myself as depressed. I'm not that, I'm an optimist about life. Life didn't work, moving on. I'm fine."
