We all know that California is a state where divorced couples split their property and assets in half after the process. Well, there are a bunch of gray areas involved, so it's not always that simple. It was those gray areas that were holding up the divorce between Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore for months on end. But thankfully, the splitting couple finally came to an arrangement that would end the lawyer fights and let them move on.
According to TMZ, Moore was trying to get additional spousal support (along with the split) from Kutcher for two reasons. First, she believed he was sleeping around on her, which ultimately didn't matter in terms of the payout under the no-fault rule in California — cheating is not automatically seen as a reason for the additional support. Secondly, she believed that Kutcher — who has been a successful tech entrepreneur, investing early in companies like Twitter — was hiding some of those investments from her in hopes of keeping it all.
In the end, sources tell TMZ that while she did well financially after the divorce, her break-up with Bruce Willis was more of a windfall. That was due in part to Kutcher joining Two and a Half Men (and receiving its big paycheck) after their separation.
