Is one of the Hollywood's power couples headed for a split? That's what people were saying after Behind the Candelabra star Michael Douglas and actress Catherine Zeta-Jones decided to take a "temporary separation" from each other. But as Douglas is promoting the Liberace biopic in Germany, he's been asked about the relationship with the Welsh stunner, and he says everything is still fine.
"I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We, we are fine," he told reporters. "My wife and I are, are fine. We take a temporary separation, but the press, it gives you stuff to write about," he tells reporters.
News of the separation came to light in August when People magazine put it on their front cover. The report was that the stress that the couple have dealt with in their 12 years together—Douglas' battle with throat cancer, the arrest of his son from a previous marriage for drug possession, Zeta-Jones' recent diagnosis with Bipolar Disorder—had taken a toll.
For now, the duo—who have two children together—will continue to live separately until further notice from the couple. We'll keep you posted.
