The Real Housewives of Atlanta is getting a major shakeup as star Phaedra Parks has begun divorce proceedings against her estranged husband Apollo Nida. According to estimates, this makes the divorce rate on Atlanta a whopping 55%.
The common belief is that the last straw was Nida's current eight-year prison sentence following his guilty plea to bank fraud back in May. But even before being incarcerated, Nida had been starting some habits Parks just couldn't put up with.
"When he does speak to Phaedra, it's always about money," a source close to E! said. "He owes a huge debt in restitution and he wants to know if she's going to help him with it. 'Are you going to give me money?' is always his question. He still wants her financial support."
And despite Nida's previous run-ins with the law, the source says, "[Phaedra] had no idea any of that [illegal activity] was going on." Despite all that, Phaedra 's focus is now on the two kids she shares with Nida, Ayden, 4, and Dylan, 1.
According to her rep, she "is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests," he said. "This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone's lives."
