Modern Family star Sofia Vergara left her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb last May, and has since found a new love with True Blood and Magic Mike XXL star Joe Manganiello. The duo has fallen for each other so hard that they got engaged last December. Unfortunately for Vergara, Loeb isn't completely out of the picture yet. He has sued the curvy Columbian with a lawsuit claiming that she wanted to destroy a pair of frozen embryos they created while they were engaged.
According to court documents, he sued Vergara in August to "ensure that the female embryos" are kept safe, because she "refuses to agree to their preservation under all circumstances." According to The New York Daily News, a source says that Loeb has been a Republican his entire life and has always believed that life begins at conception. For her part, Vergara's now blasting back after the lawsuit became widely known.
"The claims made against Sofia Vergara by Nick Loeb are uncredible and have no merit," the "Modern Family" star's lawyer Fred Silberberg said in a statement to People magazine. "Vergara has never wanted to destroy her embryos."
Vergara's lawyer also countered that she and Loeb signed an agreement at the time the embryos were created, which stated that "no unilateral action can be taken with regard to the embryos unless both parties consent."
"Vergara has never suggested that she wished to have the embryos destroyed," the statement said. We'll just have to see how this plays out, and we'll get back to you with any future developments.
