Elderly Man Sleeps on The Yard of His Million Dollar Home - For Good Reason?

Posted By The Graves Law Firm || 12-Oct-2015

Sharafat Khan is a 69-year-old man who was kicked out of his million-dollar house with nothing but the clothes on his back by his now-ex wife. Frail and in desperate need of medication, Khan has been persistent about wanting to stay there, however. So since March, Khan has been sleeping on the front yard of the house he says is half his, but to no avail — the former Mrs. Kahn refuses to let him back in.

Upon hearing this story first, you begin to feed badly for Mr. Kahn. However, in the past few weeks, there have been revelations that the elderly man, now sleeping on the grass that protects his house from the street, may not be entirely the victim he seems to portray to friends and news cameras. From KHOU:

“We’ve learned from one of his sons that the wife finally got tired of years of verbal and physical abuse. There are also allegations of theft. Harris County Criminal Court records show that Khan was arrested for domestic violence in 2008 and civil court records show his wife received a protective order in December 2014 and that she filed for divorce in June. She's also asked for multiple restraining orders. Records show that a final judgment has not yet been signed.”

While his wife seems to be looking for her just desserts, it looks like the couple’s neighbors are helping Mr. Kahn out by bringing him food and toiletries. The former Mrs. Kahn didn’t like that idea, so she put out a sign that read:

“If you want to feed him, take him to your house. If you want to, you can keep him at your house. Thanks for your sympathy, but do not bring anything on this property.”
