Getting divorced is hard enough, but imagine being on camera for the world
to see you go through that tumult. That’s the situation that singer
and actress Jennifer Lopez found herself in after her divorce in 2012
to Marc Anthony, and is the focus of her documentary, “Dance Again.”
The film chronicles her 2012 World Tour, in which she visited 65 cities
across five continents and performed to more than one million fans. But
while she sang and danced across all those stages, behind the scenes it
was a different story. Her story is very similar to many that play out
every day in divorces — although much more public. She says the
pain of the divorce helped her transform herself, and that having the
cameras there quickly became cathartic.
"It came together very organically. We didn't set out to make
a movie - we just had cameras around to document the tour," she told Sky News.
"At the time it just felt like they were always around catching stuff,
but when we were back home a year later and we were editing it, I saw
a lot of stuff happened to me and I actually learned a lot and there's
a story here to be told."
