In our last newsletter, we talked about the rise in “divorce selfies,” pictures divorcing couples take of themselves shortly after (or
sometimes during!) they file their divorce paperwork. We mention it because
it shows how two people can amicably split without any ugliness.
Well, according to a study put out by the website
CompleteCase.com, we generally know where we can expect the most happy(ish)divorce selfies
would be taken. Vermont ranks first on the list, followed up by Oklahoma
and Rhode Island.
On the list, California ranks 38th out of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. In the top-10, only two west
coast states — Oregon (4th) and Idaho (6th) — made the cut. Nevada, whose residency laws make it a quick place
to get hitched
and get divorced, came in at number 47. Apparently the ability to quickly
get out of being hitched doesn’t give a marriage a good base to
work off of.
